We didn’t know it at the time but we were strategically paired up to perform a surprise choreographed dance at my future sister-in-law’s wedding. With this huge responsibility & commitment, it only meant we had to meet up in stealth mode on a regular basis to practice our routine.
Internal initial thoughts the first time we got together to dance:
Me: Be a gentleman because this is the baby sister of one of your best friends.
My wife to be, Susan: Did they put us together because we were both single?
The more we danced and practiced, a natural progression began:
Me: No romantic thoughts yet, just wanted to focus and get the dance moves right and not make an embarrassment of myself.
Her: Was it true that he had a sketchy dating history? He seems like such a nice guy!
Susan made sure we learned the moves, I made sure we had fun while doing it. The more time we spent together the more we surprised each other everyday.
We became closer and closer and learned something new about each other. On the day of Susan's sister's wedding our performance was a tad bit off rhythmically, probably a product of us goofing together rather than practicing as we should’ve been.
Even though our dance practices ended, our life together just began and we both had the same thought: lets keep hanging out and the rest is history! - James
